“ I grew up in Belfast and would stop here quite often. As little kids my friends and I would pick up candy cigarettes, cola and comic books. When we got older we would purchase real cigarettes, beer and pornos. The store's been owned by the same family as far as I can remember so they got to watch us grow up. A Bangor hobo once raved to me that Jack's makes the best sandwiches in Maine! I believe him, to be honest. I live in New York City now and when I step into the nicer mom and pop delis and bodegas, I get a warm fuzzy nostalgia for Jack's. It's one of the few places in Maine that sells Ballantine XXX Ale and Schaefer beer. Those are both very old-school NYC brands. If you're in Belfast, skip the Co-op with their hipster bullshit. Shop at Jacks. ”
